Ten minutes with Blackwood Norfolk
When Sarah and husband Daniel moved to West Runton in North Norfolk, they were looking to build a better life for their family.

Some four years later, they’ve achieved this and so much more – establishing a fully-fledged holiday let from the bare bones of an outbuilding nestled on their wooded plot.

‘For the exterior, I was really inspired by Scandinavian architecture and Shou Sugi Ban, the Japanese method of torching wood to make it last longer.

‘I spent a lot of time on Pinterest and Instagram and became inspired by Australian and Californian interiors, and beach houses specifically. I love that light airy feel, while bringing in earthy tones and textures.’
‘I absolutely love Corston’s Bronze finish. Blackwood has light walls and woods, and the dark browny Bronze just pops.

‘I was specifically looking for something that would make a beautiful feature in the house rather than shrinking into the background.’
‘I’ve also used some charred dark woods inside which go with the exterior, and the Bronze finish sets that off really well too.

‘One of the things that drew me to Corston was the real quality feel; the toggle switches and the lovely noise they make, and the door handles – I’d never held anything with such amazing weight to it.’
‘Something I’m really excited about after being open for almost 18 months is the beautiful patina that’s developing on the door handles and switches. The aging feel complements the whole building so well.

‘I’m an attention-to-detail girl. It was a really big thing that all the handles, hinges, sockets and switches pulled together and gave a cohesive look.’
‘I’m also doing some renovations in my own home, and I’m planning on using Corston products to bring it up to the same standard as Blackwood.

‘The smallest fixtures and fittings can make such a huge difference.’
